It's amazing how this story ended! I would have never thought that it would end so tragic. I was hoping for a happy ending for Candie! Sometimes love isn't good enough!
You never know someone's breaking point......Caine was a straight up dog and her frien wasn't sh*t. With friends like that enemy's are not needed.....There is always consequences behind every action......
I couldn't stand Caine this entire book lol. I wish Candie could have just moved to LA like she had planned instead of staying and hoping that her and Caine could work their problems out. I was not prepared for that ending though!!!
This was a great read. Candie was my girl. I hate that she had to deal with such a dog as Caine. I just wished that she had left his butt alone a lot sooner. I also couldn't believe that Jamie was as trifling as she was. That ending really broke my heart. I can't believe that it ended that way.
Love will make you do some crazy things. Caine was just straight up trifling. I wished Candie would have thought about her actions before reacting. She should've just moved. I hate the book ended like this but poor Caine will have to live with his indiscretions for the rest of his life
Loved,loved,loved!!!!This stand alone book was so good.It was action packed beginning to the end.I swear I loved Candie and how she was so independent and how much she loved her man.I couldn't stand Caine's tale doe,he was such a dog.I wish that Candie would have been smarter to get out the relationship sooner then she did.Joy was trifling to be with someone that had someone at home.I loved the relationship Candie had with her sibling Josh and Honey,and then her besties Dez and Cass.I can't believe Jamie was a snake like that.That ending was bittersweet I can't believe it left me me heartbroken and in tears.
This book was very well written. This isn't my first rodeo with this author so I had very high expectations and as expected Ms. Jontu exceeded them all. I began reading this book without a clear understanding of what was going to take place. Once the scenarios begin to evolve and everything started to become clear, I was left with a sense of dread of what twists and turns the plot was going to take. Candie was much like many other young women giving a man every ounce of their being until there is absolutely nothing left over for yourself. She was smart, super talented, independent, and loyal to a fault but she possessed that one character flaw that unfailingly seems to plague this young generation; she was unable to ascertain that her well being and worth were just as important or more so than ensuring that she remained in a relationship because of her feelings of love. Much like many of us, intellectually Candie was very much aware that love was only one small part of maintaining a healthy relationship. She however was unable to disentangle herself from a man who paid lip service to love and proved his inability to cherish and commit by his actions. Caine represented the mindset of every young black boy in America who has been brainwashed into thinking that it was OK to disrespect the very person who had been by their side all along. His way of thinking was so convoluted that he himself was misguided and lost as to how to love and treat the very blessing he had sitting right in his grasp. Jamie was a true definition of a snake broad and her deceitfulness caused her to reap a karma I am sure she could have never surmised. It was great to see how Candies true friends were supportive and there to take the ride with her through her many ups and downs. As I stated previously Ms. Jontu definitely did not disappoint. The subject matter while difficult to read was truly a cautionary tale that I plead and admonish every woman to heed. The level of emotion she was able to create from just the stroke of her pen left me feeling drained and discombobulated as if I was front and center for all of the events that transpired. KUDOS MS. Jontu!!! Great work!!! I absolutely can not wait to see what's next.
